This page is dedicated to the city of Toronto, giving you basic information and maps of Toronto, Ontario for your reference and planning.
Toronto is located in Ontario province and is the largest city in Canada with a population of 2,615,060, and a metropolitan population of 5,583,064. It is also the fourth largest city in North America, after Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles. It is also Canada`s financial and cultural capital, home to the New York Stock Exchange and most of Canada`s national media.
It is situated on the banks of Lake Ontario, and is about 175 km from the US border at Buffalo New York. It takes under two hours to reach Buffalo, barring delays at the border. To reach New York City by car takes 8-10 hours depending on traffic and delays. Lots of people choose to drive to Buffalo, park their car at Buffalo Airport and fly to New York City. I guess that helps them avoid the traffic chaos of NYC!
Toronto is often said to be the most multicultural city in North America or even the world, with 49% of its population being foreign-born, and with many of their descendants still living in ethnic neighbourhoods and speaking heritage laguages.
The first Toronto map shows all of the locally known neighbourhoods, even those which don`t have official names.
This next image is a little simpler, showing just the main areas of Toronto and its major streets. The street names are useful here.
This last one is a detailed map of Toronto that was scanned from a travel guidebook. This one shows you all the local streets in each individual neighbourhood.
