Jersey City is the second largest city in the state of New Jersey, and it is the third largest city in the New York City metropolitan area. It is located right between Newark and New York City, and is just right across the water from Manhattan Island. The fact that it is in a different state, and that you have to cross a bridge to get there, make it seem like it`s much more separate from NYC that it really is. In reality, countless people commute between the two cities every single day.
Jersey City has a population of only 247,590, which is small. But its population density, its location right in the middle of one of the biggest conurbations in the world, and its urban atmosphere make it seem like a much bigger city. It might as well be NYC! Though most New Yorkers would smack me for saying that!
